JEDDAH, 3 August — A charity football match was held between King Fahd Cup stars and Al Fayed, the winning team of the Jeddah 22 Beach Football five-a-side tournament at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Indoor Stadium last week. Held under the patronage of Disabled Children’s Association (DCA) and Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI), it was organized by Coca-Cola Saudi Arabia (CCSA).

Representatives from DCA, JCCI and CCSA were present at the match that attracted a large number of fans. CCSA Public Affairs Manager Mustafa Farsi said: “The JCCI has worked tirelessly to organize the Jeddah 22 Beach Football tournament, where ours was the official soft drink.

We’ve been particularly pleased with the response that the Saudi football fans have displayed in coming in large numbers not only to encourage the teams participating in the tournament but also to support the activities of the DCA.

Part of the revenue from the collection of entry tickets for the match will be donated to support the activities of the DCA. The Jeddah 22 organizing committee and CCSA representatives will handover the donation to DCA Chairman Prince Sultan ibn Salman at a separate event, the organizers stated.

In the final match held a day before, Al Fayed won the Jeddah 22 beach football tournament beating Al Amoudi with a convincing score. Al Tadamon and Abu Salman were placed in third and fourth place respectively. The key players who participated in the charity match included Ahmad Jameel, Hamza Idrees, Al Hassan Al-Yami, Khamis Al-Zahrani, Tareq Al-Muwaled, Hussein Mabrook, Sami Shass, Adel Al Thakafi and Hassan Khalifa.

The CCSA has an agreement with the DCA to launch a Kingdomwide “Friends of disabled children” program to build awareness and understanding for the cause of disabled children and raise funds to support its activities.

The program will involve the soft drink company initiating a series of activities across the Kingdom which include sports, cultural and entertainment events for students in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah and Jouf to raise funds for the DCA during the agreement term of two years, which is extendable. The charity match was part of the program.
