JEDDAH, 12 July — Police arrested yesterday an armed youth at the Qatari Consulate in Jeddah.
Qatari Consul General in the Kingdom Ibrahim Al-Moghissab told Arab News that the consulate staff were surprised at 4 p.m Local Time (1300 GMT) by a man in his 30’s who came to the consulate demanding refuge. When his request was refused he took out a weapon and threatened to fire.
The security officials overpowered the man immediately and handed him over to the police.
According to a consulate source, the youth was found to be mentally unstable.
