RIYADH, 15 August — Hundreds of Saudi students currently vacationing in the Kingdom are worried about returning to the United States and resuming their studies as they have not yet been issued visas. The Saudi Ministry of Higher Education has announced that steps are being taken to help such students continue their studies in some Arab universities if they are not issued US visas in time. One hundred students sponsored by the Saudi Aramco to study in the United States are also worried about their future as they have not yet been issued visas while the date to report at their universities is fast approaching. A student said he submitted his visa application at the US Embassy in Riyadh on June 26 and was asked to report on July 31 after a personal interview. But he is yet to hear from the embassy. If he reports to his university late his study schedule will go haywire, the student complained.
