RIYADH, 3 September — Prince Abdullah, the regent, yesterday held talks with Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller on the Middle East situation and latest international developments.
The meeting, held in Jeddah, was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister Dr. Nizar Madani and Danish Ambassador to the Kingdom Erik Nordebrg. He also met with Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal.
Moeller arrived earlier in the day at the start of a regional tour to discuss the new European peace plan for the Middle East, the Danish Embassy in Riyadh said.
Moeller, whose country currently holds the rotating European Union (EU) presidency, was scheduled to leave the Kingdom late last night for Cairo and then travel to Israel and the Palestinian territories today. He will meet Israeli President Moshe Katsav and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon tomorrow. He will also be travelling to Ramallah to meet the Palestinian leadership the same day. He will meet Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres on Thursday.
