JEDDAH, 7 September — Al-Ahli romped over Al-Najmah (5-1) in a Group B match of the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Cup soccer tournament at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here on Thursday.
Fahd Fallata scored the opening goal for Ahli in the first minute of the game. After much effort, Ahmad Al-Harbi of Najmah won the equalizer for his team in the 12th minute. The first half ended with Ahli leading by one goal (2-1) as Fallata scored his second goal in the 38th minute. Abdullah Surur (two goals) and Ibrahim Suwaid scored other goals for Ahli.
In Alkharj, Al-Ittihad suffered its first defeat in the tournament as Al-Sho’ala surprised the Jeddah team’s fans with a 3-1 victory. Fahd Al-Yahya of Al-Sho’ala scored the opening goal for his team in the 12th minute but Muhammad Ameen scored the equalizer in the 23rd minute.
Sultan Al-Motairy scored the second goal for Al-Sho’ala from a penalty kick and Al-Yahya scored the third goal for his team in the 88th minute. Favorites Al-Ta’ie routed Al-Raed (3-0) in another match held in Hail and the goals were scored by Hamadji (two goals) and Al-Rushaidi.
