RIYADH, 8 September — Saudi German Hospital Group plans to open a 300-bed hospital in Madinah next year, according to Dr. Khaled Batterji, vice chairman of the group.
Speaking to Al-Watan newspaper, he said efforts are under way to open another hospital in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. "Our hospitals in Addis Ababa and Cairo will be ready by the end of this year," he added.
"We are now in the process of identifying locations for our hospitals in Bahrain and Kuwait," Batterji said. He disclosed the group’s plan to establish a private medical college in the Asir region. "We have already conducted a feasibility study on the project," he added.
The group also intends to establish a research center shortly, he said, adding that it would be named after Sheikh Abdul Jaleel Batterji. He estimated the Saudi health insurance market at SR13 billion, adding that the market had grown by 25 percent. Studies conducted by the group calculated the private health sector’s turnover at SR4 billion. The study projected major growth in the sector over the coming years.
