MANILA, 7 May 2003 — The fall of former movie star-turned-president, Joseph Estrada does not appear to have served as a lesson to many of his colleagues.
While the 2001 election witnessed the failure of many film stars to win political seats, 2004 may yet mark their return into the political arena.
Richard Gomez has already hinted that he may enter the fray under the opposition banner. Gomez, a consistent figure in the senatorial race surveys, said he may consider a seat if the party will support him.
“I’m not going to use my hard-earned money for politics,” Gomez said during a press conference for an upcoming movie with Sharon Cuneta.
Actor Aga Muhlach, who did not finish high school, is reportedly eyeing a congressional seat in Muntinlupa City but denied such ambitions.
“Winning is easy but what would I do there?” he said.
