JEDDAH, 16 May 2003 — In Division 1 of JCL Friday League, Qasim’s century was the highlight in Saudia City’s victory against Ace Travels, Juffali Michelin had an exciting win over Al-Sharif Shalimar, Dabbagh survived against Deccan Blues and Kanoo defeated Afkar Promo-7.

Qasim’s century helped Saudia City to beat Ace Travels by 68 runs. The winning team piled up 207 for 3 in 18 overs. Qasim scored 101 runs consisting of 12 fours and 3 sixes. He was supported by Javed (22), Miflal (21) and Junaid (18). In reply, facing the huge run rate, Ace Travels were shot out for 139, in which, Habib (36), Saleem (31) and Shaukat (20) were the notable batsmen. For Saudia City, Kareem, Mazhar and Qasim took 2 wickets each for 34, 26 and 15 respectively.

Juffali had an 8 wickets win over Al-Sharif Shalimar, who clubbed 139 for 9 in 20 overs. Abdullah 31 and Rahat 27 were the top scorers. Ahmed from Juffali claimed 2 for 20. In reply, Juffali scored the required runs for the loss of 2 wickets and 24 balls to spare. Imran (52), Naeem Shah (33) and Azhar Butt (22 n.o.) were the main contributors.

Dabbagh scored a narrow victory against Deccan Blues. Batting first, Dabbagh compiled 149 all out in 20 overs. Shehzad (42), Tahir (36), Ameen (22) and Shakeel (23) were the main batsmen. Aman from Deccan Blues finished with 5 for 11 and Quddus took 2 for 41. In reply, Deccan Blues were restricted to 145 for 5. Quddus (25) and Marouf (22) were the notable scorers.

Kanoo ensured 42-run victory over Afkar Promo-7. Kanoo scored 164 for 8 in 18 overs. Azam hit 3 fours in his 52 runs, and was helped by Shahid (43) and Nadeem (35). Nabil took 2 for 34. In reply, Afkar Promo-7 could score only 122 runs for 7. Azhar (37) was the main batsman. Naeem Amin and Azam took 2 wickets each conceding 24 and 25 runs respectively.
