JEDDAH, 16 May 2003 — In the 7th week matches of Jeddah Cricket Leagues Friday League Division II, BRC registered an easy victory over International Indian School, KAIA defeated Hero Rangers, Nadeem Memorial was too good for Nadir Toor, Hafil beat Saudi General Insurance, Sahari Pack managed a very close victory against Saleheen and Adamjee beat NCB.

BRC Win Against

International Indian School

International Indian School team was set a target of 193 by BRC but the schoolboys were all out for 138. Tajuddin (55 — 4 fours) and Kader (52 — 9 fours) set the stage for imposing total by putting on 84 runs for the first wicket and Saleh swelled the tally with an unbeaten 55, including 6 boundaries. BRC put up 192 for 3 as Ajmal took all 3 wickets to fall for 31 runs.

In reply, Mudassar played a captain’s knock of 62 (7 fours) and Arshad contributed 20 as the Schoolboys folded for 132 runs. Shafeeq (3 for 17), Muhagir (2 for 27) and Iqbal (2 for 8) stood out.

KAIA Beat Hero

Rangers by 37 Runs

KAIA was provided a good start of 54 runs by A. Mateen (16) and Zamir (46 — 4 fours and six). Syed Noor chipped in with 21 (2 fours), Abbas hit 29 (2 sixes and 2 fours) and Abrar smashed 39 not out (3 sixes and 4 fours) as KAIA posted 190 for 3.

Hero Rangers could manage 154 runs. Notable contribution came from Jay Kumar (39 — 3 fours), Safdar (38 — 4 fours), Nadeem (23 — one four and a six) and Saif (15). Zafar claimed 2 wickets for 31 runs.

Nadeem Memorial Gain Fine

Win Over Nadir Toor

Nadir Toor were skittled out for 127 runs by Nadeem Memorial, who then rattled the required runs in just 13 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Qazzafi (2 for 27) and Sarfaraz (2 for 24) had Nadir Toor middle order batsmen in disarray. Nadir Toor (46 — 2 fours) and Zahid (30 — 2 fours) steadied the innings somewhat, as Hashmat added 20. Waqas (1—24), Sohail (1—35) and Nusrat (1—12) were among the wickets.

Nadeem Memorial openers Nusrat (37 — 3 fours and a six) and Tahir (20 — 4 fours) started briskly. Qazzafi further accelerated the rate by hitting four fours and a six in his 34. Saleem remained unbeaten with 18. Nadeem Memorial was home in 13th over losing 3 wickets in the process. Nadir Toor claimed 2 wickets for 33 runs. Imran could not use his skill as per the expections as he got one wicket for 20 runs.

Hafil Prevail Over Saudi

General Insurance

Saudi General Insurance was restricted to 141 runs by Hafil, who won with six wickets in hand. Saleh Amoudi (3 for 33) and Abdul Aziz (3 for 22) restricted SGI. The top three batsmen went for 20 runs. Qamer (32) and Aleem (25) then brought some respectability. Shakeel made 40 (3 fours) as SGI made 141.

Abid (38 — 3 fours) and Abdullah (12) provided Hafil a sound start of 38 runs. Saleem Nahdi cracked 49 off 25 balls with the help of 2 towering sixes and 3 fours. Amoudi contributed 11. Abid (20 n.o.) then took Hafil past the target. Anees (2 for 22) was successful bowler.

Sahari Pack Survive

Against Saleheen

Saleheen needed 141 runs for victory against Sahari Pack but fell 4 runs short of an upset.

Saleheen bowlers surprised the strong Sahari Pack batting, dismissing them for modest 140 runs. Tanveer topscored with 28. Zaheer (3 for 28) did early damage. Then Razzaq (2 for 22) and Azmat, who too grabbed 2 scalps with his deceiving slow deliveries, kept up the good work. Irshad (16), Amir (15) and Saadat (26) made notable contributions.

Saleheen were then paced by Arif (30), Sadiq (15), Zaheer (22) and Razzaq (24) and were seemingly on course. But the exit of Kashif (19), Arif Junior (13) and Hani (5) left Salaheen at 136 all out. Saadat (2 for 22) and Tanveer (2 for 20) did the star turn for Sahari Pack.
