JEDDAH, 24 May 2003 — The anxiously awaited Grade 12 results of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations were announced yesterday.
“Two-hundred and nineteen students of the International Indian School, Jeddah, (IISJ) passed, out of the 259 who appeared, and they scored a pass percentage of 94 percent. However, 23 students got compartment and were eligible to appear for re-tests and 17 failed,” IISJ Director Iqbal Siddiqui said.
Majeed Saleem was the top scorer in the school with an aggregate of 85 percent (423) followed by Saba Perveen 84 percent (418) and Aisha Nasreen 83 percent (416).
This year’s results were the best in six years, the director said. The number of distinctions was 288 compared with 207 last year.
Out of 219 successful candidates, 149 got first division, 61 were placed in second division and nine passed in third division. One hundred percent results were achieved in seven subjects, he said. In Home Science, introduced by the IISJ for the first time this year, the result was 100 percent.
The top three successful girls are: Saba Perveen: 83.20 (418), Aisha Nasreen: 83 percent (416) and Miss Tanim: 83 percent (415).
The top three successful boys are: Majid Saleem: 85 percent (423), Muhammad Ikramullah: 81.80 (409) and Muhammad Azam: 78.40 percent (392).
