ATLANTA, 26 May 2003 — The Atlanta Braves breezed past the New York Mets 10-4 in the National League on Saturday to make it an unhappy Turner Field return for Tom Glavine.

Gary Sheffield homered, had three hits and drove in three runs for the Braves while Robert Fick added a three-run homer and Rafael Furcal had two hits and drove in two runs. Glavine (5-4) allowed six runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings after being met by a smattering of boos on his return to the city where he starred for 16 seasons.

He allowed homers to Javy Lopez and Andruw Jones and left the game during a seven-run fourth inning that made it 10-0.

He was bothered by a blister on his pitching hand after the first inning and the Braves took advantage.

Horacio Ramirez (4-2) went seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks for the win.

Giants 5 Rockies 1

In Denver, Pedro Feliz homered for the second straight game as Barry Bonds’ replacement to guide the San Francisco Giants to a 5-1 triumph over the Colorado Rockies.

Felix’s three-run homer in the sixth inning broke a scoreless tie. Bonds was injured on Friday and is not expected to play again in this series.

Marquis Grissom had four hits to lead the Giants, now an NL-best 18-8 on the road.

Kurt Ainsworth (4-4) surrendered a run on four hits over seven innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Scott Elarton (1-1) allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings and took the loss.

Todd Helton had two hits for Colorado.

Dodgers 6 Brewers 0

In Milwaukee, Hideo Nomo pitched a complete game two-hitter and Fred McGriff had a grand slam as the Los Angeles Dodgers blanked the Brewers 6-0.

Nomo (6-4) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning en route to his second shutout of the season and ninth of his career. He struck out eight and walked four.

Matt Kinney (3-4) allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings. Brian Jordan had two hits and two RBI for the Dodgers.

Expos 3 Phillies 2

In Montreal, Wil Cordero’s homer in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Expos a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies before 33,236 fans.

Vladimir Guerrero added two hits and an RBI for Montreal while Luis Ayala (5-1) tossed two shutout innings of relief for the win.

Cardinals 6 Pirates 0

In Pittsburgh, Matt Morris pitched his second straight shutout as the St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Pirates 6-0.

Morris (6-3) scattered nine hits while striking out three and walking two. Fernando Vina and Jim Edmonds both homered for the Cards. Jeff Suppan (4-5) allowed six runs on eight hits over five innings to take the loss. Brian Giles had three hits for Pittsburgh.

Marlins 5 Reds 4

In Cincinnati, Alex Gonzalez and Juan Encarnacion both had three hits and drove in a run to guide the Florida Marlins past the Reds 5-4. Ken Griffey Jr hit a pair of two-run homers for the Reds. Brad Penny (3-3) went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks, while Braden Looper pitched the ninth for his sixth save of the season.

Cubs 3 Astros 2

In Houston, Shawn Estes pitched six solid innings for his fourth consecutive win, helping the Chicago Cubs overcome the Astros 3-2.

Estes (5-3) allowed two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk while Joe Borowski tossed a hitless ninth for his ninth save of the season. Mark Grudzielanek had three hits for the Cubs. Morgan Ensberg drove in both Houston runs.

Padres 5 Diamondbacks 1

In Phoenix, Brian Lawrence tossed a two-hitter to lead the San Diego Padres to a 5-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Lawrence (3-5) allowed one run while striking out four and walking one. Rondell White homered and drove in two runs while Dave Hansen had three hits and drove in a run for the Padres. Curt Schilling (3-3) was the loser. He lasted seven innings, surrendering three runs on nine hits with 11 strikeouts and two walks. Alex Cintron drove in Arizona’s lone run.
