NEW YORK, 26 May 2003 — Carlos Delgado and Tom Wilson both hit two run-scoring doubles to help the Toronto Blue Jays hand the slumping New York Yankees their sixth straight home loss, 5-2, in the American League on Saturday.

The Yankees have lost 10 of their last 13 games overall to slip 1 1/2 behind the Boston Red Sox in the AL East. New York has also been beaten in 10 of its last 11 at Yankee Stadium for only the second time in franchise history.

Cory Lidle (8-2) became the major league’s first eight-game winner, going eight-plus innings and allowing two runs on six hits.

He struck out five and walked two before Cliff Politte tossed a scoreless ninth for his seventh save of the season.

Red Sox 12 Indians 3

In Boston, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez and Nomar Garciaparra all homered and had three hits as the Red Sox crushed the Cleveland Indians 12-3.

Angels 7 Devil Rays 2

In Anaheim, Troy Glaus had four hits, a homer and drove in four runs to lead the Angels past the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-2.

John Lackey (3-4) went seven innings for the win, allowing two runs on four hits.

Royals 3 Athletics 1

In Oakland, Mark Sweeney and Joe Randa both homered to spark the Kansas City Royals to a 3-1 triumph over the Athletics. Kris Wilson (1-0) allowed one run on four hits over five innings. Mike MacDougal pitched the ninth for his 12th save of the season.

Tigers 1 White Sox 0

In Chicago, Gary Knotts and Franklyn German combined on a three-hitter as the Detroit Tigers blanked the White Sox 1-0.

Knotts (2-3) gave up two hits over 7 2/3 innings, striking out six and walking two. German grabbed the last four outs for the save as the Tigers won their third straight game.

Orioles 10 Rangers 3

In Arlington, Melvin Mora homered and drove in five runs to lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 10-3 thumping of the Texas Rangers.

Jeff Conine and Luis Matos both homered and had three hits for the Orioles. Omar Daal (3-5) allowed three runs on eight hits over six innings for the win while Kerry Ligtenberg pitched three hitless innings of relief.

Alex Rodriguez homered for Texas. John Thomson (3-5) allowed four runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings and took the loss.

Twins 7 Mariners 2

In Seattle, AJ Pierzynski belted a three-run homer and had three hits to lead the Minnesota Twins past the Mariners 7-2.

Corey Koskie also homered for the Twins while Jacque Jones had two hits and two RBI. Kyle Lohse (4-3) tossed a complete game six-hitter, striking out seven and walking one while allowing two runs.
