JEDDAH, 1 June 2003 — The annual GCC Polo Cup is scheduled for June 18 in the Guards Polo Club at Windsor. It will benefit a number of charities including the Iraqi Children’s Fund and the Prince’s Trust. The event will be attended by Queen Elizabeth II and is expected to attract international dignitaries, VIPs and royalty from all over the Middle East and the UK.
The BMG Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises funds for charitable causes in the Middle East and UK, organizes the event. It has been a permanent fixture on the UK Polo scene for the past six years and during that time, it has raised thousands of sterling pounds for various charities. This year, the event will raise funds for the Prince’s Trust, the Iraqi Children’s Fund, the Graham Layton Trust and Friends of the Disabled Association of Lebanon.
Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, will lead his team against the GCC team. The guest of honor will be Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal whose company, the Kingdom Holding, is this year’s principal sponsor of the event.
