JEDDAH, 4 June 2003 — The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) in the Western Region will hold its mid-year conference and technical seminar on June 6 at Hotel Sofitel along Palestine Street, in Jeddah.
The one-day event, with its theme: “Strengthening the Electrical Practitioner for Global Competition”, starts at 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Consul General Kadatuan P. Usop will be the event’s guest speaker.
Highlighting the conference will be an electrical and electronics programmable controls exhibition. Manufacturers and local vendors related to the new electrical industry will showcase their latest products and technologies.
“Speakers from around the kingdom, representing various companies and a choice of aspects of the electrical and electronics industries, will address participants,” Mel Gamet, chapter president said.
Gamet also said the IIEE Western Region chapter is close to launching the “Knowledge Sharing Initiative” program among its members “to improve efficiency through effective communication, sharing of best practices and innovative ideas, as well as paperless work environment.”
He stressed that the idea behind this project is “to promote paperwork computerization and consolidate computer applications. The initiative is intended to eliminate data redundancy and facilitate information sharing among members.”
