JEDDAH, 5 June 2003 — Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed highlighted the development of water and sewage network projects in the city at a meeting here on Tuesday night.
“Jeddah is expanding rapidly, so its sewage system needs urgent attention,” he said at the annual meeting of Jeddah Holding Development Co., which declared its financial results for 2002.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the proposed water and sewage network projects on the Corniche and in Al-Hamra, and the Islamic traditional village project in the city.
The company, formed under the auspices of the prince, has Zuhair ibn Hamid Al-Fayz as chairman, Saleh ibn Ali Al-Turki as managing director and nine directors.
The meeting heard that the Jeddah Services Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Holding Development Co., had entrusted an overseas company with conducting a feasibility study of the water and sewage projects and discussed with national and foreign banks the question of financing them.
The proposed Islamic traditional village is conceived as a cultural center.
