JEDDAH, 11 June 2003 — The Dubai Health Care City (DHCC) is on course to be established as a model both of infrastructure and facilities and in providing an environment that fosters collaborations between the companies that form its component parts.
“Toward achieving this goal, DHCC is in negotiations with prominent international and regional companies, which will help it to become a hub attracting the best skills and expertise and providing the quality medical and healthcare services,” Mohammed Al-Gergawi, chairman, Dubai Development and Investment Authority, said yesterday.
Announcing the signing of a strategic partnership between the DHCC and the Mayo Foundation in Dubai, Al-Gergawi said the Mayo Foundation would establish its medical center at the DHCC. “
Through this center, the Mayo physicians will provide world-class medical care within the DHCC.
The partnership also includes strong strategic and operational relationship in various areas including medical care provision, medical research and professional consultancy services.”
Al-Gergawi called it an “important agreement” and said it reflected the trust of international medical establishments in the UAE and its international standing as a regional center providing healthcare services in the region extending from Northeast Africa to the Indian Subcontinent and Eastern Asia.
“This agreement will help establish the DHCC as an international hub of healthcare services. This is one of the main objectives of the DHCC as defined by Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defense Minister Sheikh Mohammed ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum,” he said.
The Mayo Foundation is one of many organizations to have its offices in the DHCC, which will provide services to patients extending from Dubai, the Middle East, India, Northeast Africa and Asia.
“We’ll contribute to the overall implementation of the DHCC by establishing medical research and supporting the city’s development with its comprehensive knowledge and experience in healthcare,” McDonald said.
