RIYADH, 13 June 2003 — Red Bull athlete Kenny Baleay, the Trail Biking wonder from Belgium, has recently wrapped up his two-week tour of Saudi Arabia.
During his tour he performed his biking skill in the Kingdom’s main cities. The 20-year-old trial biking athlete has a physical education background and started his professional sporting career in September 2002.
Kenny Baleay got his start in trail biking at age nine when his father gave him his first bicycle. Since then he’s been honing his skills by balancing on anything with an edge such as sidewalks, cars, buildings and escalators.
“I really enjoyed my shows in Saudi Arabia, the people’s positive reaction to my stuns made it a lot of fun for me. It is a new experience for them and I’m happy I could be the one to introduce them to trail biking,” Baleay commented.
Kenny Baleay’s dream is to win the famous World Trail Biking Championships, which is due to be held in Switzerland this September - only a year since he turned professional.
Baleay started working with Red Bull in August 2002, making appearances in Qatar, UK, Portugal, KSA and throughout Europe. This recent successful tour in Saudi Arabia saw the cyclist performing in Jeddah, Abha, Tabuk, Al Qassim and Riyadh.
The Red Bull Kenny Baleay Roadshow is the latest in a line of sports initiatives the company has in store for the region. The Austrian energy drink sponsors more than 300 top athletes worldwide.
