JEDDAH, 17 June 2003 — The first Jeddah Industrial Forum will be held on June 24 under the title “For a Better Industry.”
This was announced at a press conference here yesterday by Adel Faqeeh, chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Faqeeh described the forum as the start of a series of potential forums that will deal exclusively with industrial matters in the hope of improving and strengthening the industrial sector.
He highlighted the opportunities that the first Jeddah Industrial Forum could open. “The forum and the others that follow will be an important place for interaction between people in the industry. Decision-makers can meet and exchange ideas, discuss potential solutions and the removal of obstacles to growth. These forums are a good place to stimulate the industry from a commercial standpoint, and also a stimulus for the industrial and technological aspects,” he said.
Faqeeh pointed out the benefits of such interaction at the forum. “We hope that the exchange of success stories will be an educational and enlightening experience to those in the field who hope to excel. Another goal would be the discussion of utilizing different industries, and the potential joining of different industries. And finally it will highlight investment opportunities that are available to people inside and outside the industry,” he added.
He said the decision on how many forums would take place under the chamber’s umbrella remained to be made “after analyzing the success of the first one. But hopefully at least a few times a year.”
He said the forum would not act in an official capacity. It was “a place to discuss important issues that are industry-related, in an unofficial capacity.”
