RIYADH, 27 June 2003 — The Independence Cup 2003 entered its 5th thrilling week with more exciting events.

The Volleygators-2A group headed by Jigs Garcia and Ting Banday improved their record by posting a close 44-40 victory over the Pace-Setters team of Clifford Mendes and Joey Salem at the center court 3 of the Independence Cup tennis tourney. Lucky Shots team mentored by Robert Romero and Dante Pozas sealed their stint by surviving at 48-25 against the Eskan Patriots team of Ed Dooma and Hisham Hizazi.

In the B/C Category, the ABV Rock Group Tomahawk Bombers team managed by Al Pinpin and Lorry Adalim put their best at 48-25 against the RTC-Royal Balls team of Mike Sharif and Lindy Capal at Court 2. The Smart Shots squad of Rey Beninsig and Neal Perez brought the Bankers back to earth at 48-31 at court 1, while the Aero Balls team dealt the Friends group of Ace Espiritu and Boggs Gonzales out at 42-31 as they continued their consistency and power of the day.

In another development of the Category C, D’Equalizers struggled hardly to overcome the Match Pointers team at 37-33 while the SEC’s Kharabha team singled home the winning run at 46-34 against the RTC-D’Hardcore group. ABV Rock Group Meteor Volley team and Les Banquiers produced their stunning performances when they tied at 35 all. The Power Brokers team managed by Felix Pacleb and Lito Hufana outscored the Volleygators-2A at 44-37 during their stretch Friday at the ABC Category of the Independence Cup Tourney. This event of the AFTP in Riyadh played on Wednesdays and on Thursdays and Fridays.
