JEDDAH, 6 July 2003 — The Breast-Feeding Resource Center (BRC), a division of Batterjee Medical Services (BMS), is represented at a La Leche League International (LLLI) conference, which opened in San Francisco on Thursday. Members from all over the world are taking part in the event, which features 100 sessions for various groups on every phase of breastfeeding and parenting.
Speakers include LLLI leaders, health care providers, educators, researchers, authors and parents from more than 30 countries.
A three-day training program preceded the conference, which ends today.
“LLLI, a non-profit mother-to-mother educational organization formed to give information and encouragement to women interested in breast-feeding, was founded in 1956. A network of local groups, including BRC, serves as a place for providing these services to Saudi women and covers the world with members in over 62 countries,” a BRC statement said.
“International conferences give La Leche League parents and professionals the opportunity to learn the latest research findings and information from the people directly involved with the studies. Few other international meetings offer such a diversified and informative program on all aspects of breast-feeding and parenting,” the statement added.
BRC ladies have been helping mothers as a La Leche League Resource Center for many years. The center offers a focal point for all aspects of information and help and support for nursing mothers. “Private or group meetings offer opportunities to discuss the physical, psychological, practical and medical aspects of breast-feeding, childbirth and parenting.Information can be obtained by calling 665-5225,” BRC stated.
