RIYADH, 11 July 2003 — The MRM Phoenix darters captained by Lino Leonardo stunned their opponents with firepower from top player Mario Guanzon in the singles event. Guanzon finished with 126 in 12 darts with a bulls-eye out shot plus a Ton80 and Ton40 target. MRM won with a 14-3 lead over Metro Star 2 Expo a newly formed team.

Only Edgar de la Cruz, Ferdie Ortua and team captain Eddie Almonte produced 3 points for their side.

The MRM contingent scored 5 in the singles and swept the doubles and team matches scoring 14 points.

In the second game against Visayan Cargo Bulls, MRM scored 13 points against 4 for the Bulls.

They donated 2 points in the singles plus 2 points in the doubles round and bagged all remaining points.

MRM is now in second spot with a 4-1 record trailing behind Filex Malubay who lead with a 5-0 card.

Filex Malubay of Dado Corpuz grabbed another two key victories at the expense of Utex Striker Point, 9-8 and SkyFreight STR, 14-3.

Filex is now in top position in the team standings with 51 total points. Newcomer Metro Star 2 Expo surprised veteran Utex Striker Point in the second game in a tough decision match, 9-8.

Eddie Almonte capped the day’s victory with a 16 out shot.

Doy del Moral and Jun Lagrana joined the Ton80 club while Mario Guanzon and Sammy Abarientos marked their third Ton80 record. Edwin Canales broke Mario Guanzon’s 126 with a 130.

Doy del Moral pinned 18 darts but far from the record-breaking mark of Guanzon’s 12 darts.

Bullseye king was also awarded to Canales, Guanzon and Mar Lorenzo. This event is organized by the Expat Darters of Saudi Arabia (EDSA) with the full cooperation of the top sea and air cargo forwarders in the Kingdom and Cues Recreation Center.
