ALKHOBAR, 11 July 2003 — In the EPCA Super Cup tournament sponsored by DHL; Kanoo beat Nawab CC by 5 wickets. Nawab batted first. Nadeem and Faisal open the innings for Nawab but Faisal was run out with the score on 6.
Abid joined Nadeem and put on 50 runs partnership for second wicket. Nadeem scored 36 runs before he was run out. Soon Abid lost his wicket in the same manner. Sajjad Nawab joined Shaker and both put on 110 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. Ejaz took 2 wickets for 21 runs.
Chasing 176 runs, Munawar and Zulfiquar laid a solid foundation for Kanoo as they scored 63 runs in just six overs. But they lost two wickets as both Zulfiquar and Akhtar fell victims to Nadeem. Munawar yet again showed his class as he played the captain’s knock. He scored an unbeaten century and took his team to victory. Ejaz chipped in with 22 runs. Abid took 2 wickets.
In another match, SVM beat Khalifa Al-Gosaibi by 45 runs. SVM scored 185 for 5 wickets. Rublin D’Souza scored a fine half century. Mahboob 29 runs, David 28 runs and Amin scored 22 runs. Ashraf scored a quick 22 runs off 9 balls which included 2 sixes. Ansar took 2-39. Khalifa Al-Gosaibi were all out in the last over for 140 runs.
Abbas Hussain with 39 runs was the top scorer and Akbar contributed 22 runs. Faisal and Shakeel took 3 wickets each and David claimed two wickets.
In another match, Natest beat Age Sr. by 74 runs. Natest scored 220 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Kashif (69 runs) was the top scorer. Baber (31 runs), Nasir (28 runs) and Nawaz (22 runs) were other main scorers. Shaji took 3 wickets. Chasing the total, Age Sr. could only manage 146 runs and in the process lost 8 wickets. Nadeem and Rizwan scored 33 runs each. Babar took 3 wickets.
