JEDDAH, 11 July 2003 — The 8th Seiko-16th FBA Basketball Tournament is now on its final stage at the Sheraton Compound Basketball Court in Jeddah. The championship match for the Inter-Company Bona fide (Strong) Division will be played between Hanco Maintenance and Junastar Cargo Services in Thursday’s final match this week.
Semifinal matches will include: Finetool Saudi Arabia vs. Unilever (Dove), Al-Majal Service Master vs. Samsung Electronics, Dyna Fire Rescue vs. WRJ Freight Services, Arab News vs. Marawi Wizards, and Unilever (Dove) vs. Samsung Electronics. In the Inter-Company (Strong) Division; NAI-Juffali of Alex Vidal will face Saudi ABV of Benjie Telebrico and Felix Sarmiento in the 3rd and 4rth positions.
The second spot to challenge Al-Majal Service Master for the championship title in the Inter-company Bona fide in the Inter-Company Open Non-Rated Division WRJ is still open. Their challenger could be from Arab News, Dynarabia Fire Rescue and Marawi Wizards. Last week games results:
Al-Majal Service Master downed Unilever (Dove) 89-85, Dynarabia beat Marawi Wizards (77-52), WRJ Freight Forwarders beat Arab News (107-103), Al-Majal demolished Finetool S.A. (120-51) WRJ Freight Forwarders beat Marawi Wizards (91-73) and Arab News nipped Dynarabia (75-63).
FBA President Gil Manese and commissioner Herna Huerto announced that the awarding ceremony of the ongoing tournament and the recently concluded 105th Philippine Independence Volleyball Tournament will be held at the Philippine Consulate Grounds on July 18, 2003 (Friday) from 7:00 p.m. with the representatives of the Seiko watches, Samsung Electronics — UMG, Friesland Middle East (Rainbow Milk), Qatar Airways, Metito Arabia Industries (Nort Areglado) who donated all the trophies to the basketball awardees, attending.
Junastar Cargo Services, Calson Management Services (Bert Nulud), SkyFreight Forwarders (Emy de Guazman) and WRJ Freight Forwarders (William Jao) and Abdulfattah Mogawan of Nayong Pilipino Restaurant will donate “14” Samsung TV sets to the most valuable players.
