JEDDAH, 13 July 2003 — CTM Nilo Lucena was installed president of PSME Toastmasters Club during a ceremony held at Hotel Al-Hamra Sofitel. He replaced CTM Ernie Cala, who was instrumental in bringing in new members to the club.

The club, composed mostly of members of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers in the Western Region, is the fourth club chartered in the area. The other clubs are Tanglaw, HOPE, Pace, ALJ Talk Masters, and Al-Rehab.

Area 11 Governor CTM Joey Villanueva administered the oath of office to Lucena, together with TM Joey Arellano as vice president education, TM Froilan Miro as VP membership, TM Mohamed Pete Entico as VP public relations, TM Jose Marie Acebuque as secretary, Tm Chris Esguerra as treasurer, and TM Roger Baculi as sergeant-at-arms. They will all serve for one year.

In the business portion of the evening, Lucena was given special awards including “Toastmaster of the Year,” and “Best in Table Topics.” CTM Villanueva was cited as “Best Evaluator of the Year,” while TM Baculi was adjudged the “Best Prepared Speaker.”

During the educational portion, presided over by ATM Roger Gonzales, TM Rabia Abdullah of Tanglaw Toastmasters was voted as “Best Prepared Speaker” after delivering her sixth speech project entitled “The Traits of a Winner.” The “Best Evaluator” was CTM Joey Villanueva who evaluated the TM Abdullah’s speech. Rafael Osumo, who attended as guest was adjudged “Best Table Topics” speaker.
