JEDDAH, 17 July 2003 — The Davao Kalagan Cooperative (DKC) will inducts its officers on July 18, starting 5 p.m., at the Tropicana Restaurant in Jeddah.
Consul General Kadatuan P. Usop had been invited to swear in the officers and deliver an inspirational talk, according to the group.
The cooperative, an affiliate of the Overseas Filipino Workers Cooperative Council (OFWCC) as well as the UMEA Federation, is composed of workers from the southern Philippine region of Davao.
Its aim is to promote cooperative as a way of life through “thrift and savings mobilization, and to improve the social, morale, economic well-being of fellow Davaoe?os.” It also hopes to foster and maintain an “ethical standard of cooperation for the upliftment of both Kalagan and non-Kalagan Davaoe?os.” Kalagan refers to natives of Davao.
The DKC’s officers to be inducted are Yousuf Macarimban, president; Edith Viovicente, vice president; Remegio Vicentino, secretary; Imelda Enriquez, assistant secretary; Rahim Rajab, treasurer; Larry Asuncion, auditor; Flora Macarimban, assistant auditor; Taha Jamil, public relations officer; and Jaiton Ranain, sergeant-at-arms.
Its board of directors is composed of Malek Gandaruza, Jonie Taricupan, Ahmad Mustafa, Usmar Suwaran and Abdullah Casilin.
