JEDDAH, 19 July 2003 — Cyprus Airways expects an increase in the number of visitors from Saudi Arabia with Saudis avoiding travel to the West, especially the United States. “An added reason is that Saudi nationals do not require a visa prior to their journey to Cyprus,” George Kapello of the airline said at a presentation at the Jeddah InterContinental Hotel last week. The occasion was the introduction of a honeymoon special offer jointly by the airline and the hotel chain. The offer, timed to coincide with the wedding season, includes a limousine round trip transfer from hotel to Al-Murjan Beach with its breathtaking view of the Red Sea. On offer are oriental and international menu and a special gift of a Jeddah-Larnaca-Jeddah airline ticket for the 20th, 40th and 60th reservation for the bride. Meanwhile, Jeddah InterContinental has drawn up a SR29 million renovation plan that will provide better facilities. “The work will be completed in phases in 18 months, however it will not affect the inflow of guests,” property owner Mohamed Aboud Al-Amoudi, said.
