JEDDAH, 28 July 2003 — Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Chairman Adel Faqeeh said yesterday that the newly appointed JCCI secretary-general, Muhammad A. Al-Shareef, is expected to champion the chamber’s efforts to increase investment in Jeddah.
Al-Shareef has served as the interim secretary-general for seven months.
“The nation expects the business sector in the Kingdom to play a large role in increasing local business production and income in addition to increasing export capital,” said Faqeeh.
“We anticipate Al-Shareef will play a pivotal role in representing the Kingdom’s oldest chamber of commerce, the JCCI, during this important period. And that will hopefully lead Jeddah to enjoy and utilize all the economic opportunities available to it.”
Speaking to Arab News, Faqeeh pointed out that the chamber’s board of directors had been working diligently in the hope of being able to provide new services which would help achieve the goals set by the business sector and the board members of the chamber.
“The ideal that we are striving for will be seen in the level and nature of the services provided to chamber members and all Jeddah businesses,” he said.
