ALKHOBAR, 1 August 2003 — The Home Center sponsored Ilocandia Sports Club bowling tournament ended last Friday at the Al-Gosaibi Hotel bowling center with Nel Sarinas and Mariel Dungo taking top honors.
Dungo, whose husband works at the Jadawel Group of companies, topped the ladies’ division with her 698 pinfalls against the Pinky Rodellas’ 696 who settled for the 1st runner up crown. Guy Domingo, 692, 2nd runner-up; Cindy Tupas, 685, 3rd runner-up; and Tess Hussein, 680, 4th runner-up. Dungo won a 21 inches TV set while electronic items, and elegant trophies were awarded to the other winners, all courtesy of Home Center and Al Ayed Transport. Co.
The men’s category championship crown was captured by Nel Sarinas with 807 pinfalls to his credit while Jojo Poblete followed with 805 pinfalls; 2nd runner-up was Efren Guiwo, 794; Gino Arizala, 776; Ric Mina, 751 3rd and 4th runners-up respectively.
Sarinas carted away a 21 inches TV set and trophy, while Poblete took away an electric grill plus trophy and Guiwo settled for a dinner set plus trophy. All other winners were awarded electronic and houseware items. At the end of the tournament, Ed Ancheta, Ilocandia Sports Club President thanked the bowlers for their participation. Special awards, courtesy of Al Ayed Transport, were awarded to Nel Sarinas and Luz Evangelista for having 5 and 3 consecutive strikes respectively. Gift items were also given to those bowlers with split-conversions.
Ilocandia Sports Club is now in its final stages of organizing the biggest martial arts competition in the Kingdom with expected participation of entries from Bahrain, Jeddah and Riyadh.
