JEDDAH, 1 August 2003 — Jess Pineda and three time 300 perfect holder, Hashim Guinomla scored the needed points to give Dove Bar team a 2,016-1,817 victory over the SkyFreight Forwarders in the final stepladder match in the finals and capture the crown of the 29th Conference of the All Filipino Tenpin Bowling League (AFTBL) at the Jeddah Lanes Bowling Center.
Dove Bar successfully defended their title when they outplayed the SkyFreight Forwarders in the first stepladder match. Pineda and Guinomla shot a separate game high of 265 and 215 to help Dove Bar keep their back-to-back title. Teammates Edwin Ronquillo, Joey Salvador and Nap Patayan contributed 160, 157 and 149.
Dove Bar tallied an overall total team series of 946 pinfalls to win the first game over the SkyFreight Forwarders who compiled a total team series of 824. Cris Villavelez led SkyFreight by scoring 183 with the two-time 300 perfect holder Rene Santiago and Danny de Guzman at 178 and 171 while Hero Garcia scored 165 and Edu Toledo scored 127.
In the ensuing game, Dove Bar’s Pineda, Guinomla and Ronquillo scored 214, 212 and 202 with Patayan and Salvador adding 194 and 188 to beat SkyFreight Forwarders and romp away with the title. Dove Bar shot a towering overall total team series of 1010 points to SkyFreight’s 931 with Garcia and Santiago scoring 195 and 193. Toledo improved his output by scoring 189 while De Guzman and Villavelez downed 179 and 175. Libby’s Juice recorded 1,023-965 win against the Picpa Pro in the first match in the stepladder match in one-game outing. Larry Santos, Nonie Yap and Rally Zamora topscored by rolling 224, 203 and 202 while Mao Orolfo and Igna Salgado had 185 and 176. For the Picpa Pro, leading was Paul Antiporda with 214 followed by Roger Abantas (189). Southpaw Cris Villavelez and Hero Garcia with support from Rene Santiago, Danny de Guzman and Edu Toledo spoiled the winning forms of Libby’s Juice to win the match (1019-939). Villavelez rolled a game-high of 245 while Garcia had 211.
For Libby’s Juice, Orolfo, Larry Santos and Salgado were on top with 199, 195 and 191. SkyFreight Forwarders continued their fiery performances in the match to post another victory over the Omo (1025-949).
Rene Santiago and Danny de Guzman powered SkyFreight by downing 223 and 213. For Omo, it was Andy Erena, Fred Mangondato and Joe Flores who scored 205, 199 and 198.
