MIAMI, Florida, 3 August 2003 — The Miami Heat on Friday signed free agent power forward Samaki Walker, who spent the last two National Basketball Association seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Terms were not disclosed.
Walker averaged 4.4 points and 5.5 rebounds in 67 games, including 39 starts, last season.
The Lakers acquired him from San Antonio following the 2000-01 season, and he averaged 6.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.28 blocked shots in his first season as Los Angeles won its third straight NBA title.
