It is time the American government did some homework and liberated its own people — this time from poverty. According to a CNN report, 39 million Americans live in poverty.
Many can scarcely make ends meet and struggle to give themselves and their families a decent life.
The majority of Americans do not own what they actually enjoy. Almost everything is bought on credit and the average American spends a good portion of his life paying bills.
This is what is going on in a society that represents an extreme version of capitalism. It is puzzling that a country which extends billions of dollars in aid to foreign countries, with Israel always enjoying the lion’s share, can fail to feed and care for its own citizens.
It is even more puzzling that a free society lacks even a few who publicly criticize their country’s idiotic foreign policy — in Iraq and the Middle East — or who dare to disagree with Washington’s blind support of Israel.
This American attitude of being unable and unwilling to speak out is described by Sen. Paul Findley — a member of Congress from 1961-83 — in his book “They Dare to Speak Out”.
The book shows how the Jewish lobby and Israel manipulate the White House and Congress and influence America’s foreign policy.
Americans feel free to criticize their government’s domestic policy; they discuss everything from unemployment to the high cost of living, from crime to pollution.
But when it comes to foreign policy pertaining to Israel, no one dares to speak. Television debates before presidential elections touch on virtually every subject except this one.
Candidates can even talk of the private lives of their opponents but they never criticize Washington’s policy toward Israel, knowing full well if they do, they will never make it to the White House or even into Congress.
We can only wonder if the American government will ever turn its attention to the domestic problems facing its people at home instead of squandering its taxpayer’s money on supporting a hegemony that will only bring it more trouble.
