JEDDAH, 8 August 2003 — Susan Patayan helped the Cee Bee Aviation Company team nip arch-rival Saudi Pearl Insurance 1,804-1,801 during the stepladder finals to bag the coveted Inter-Commercial Family Bowling League at the Bowling World.
Cee Bee Aviation and Saudi Pearl Insurance met in the first stepladder match and that ended at 838-790, giving an advantage to Saudi Pearl Insurance. The combination of Boy Casio and Danny de Guzman along with Benjie Domado, Myrna de Guzman and Lyn Decena delighted to stump Cee Bee Aviation. Casio and Danny scored 210 and 206 while Domado, Myrna and Lyn contributed 167, 130 and 125. For the Cee Bee Aviation, only Aiza Silabay submitted 173 with the others playing far below their average game. Bankable Lindo Villanueva had 158 while Susan, Eddie Alisbo and Nap Patayan scored 155, 153 and 151.
In the penultimate game in the final stepladder match, Cee Bee Aviation came back with vengeance as Cee Bee Aviation enjoyed less than one mark edge. In the remaining frame, Saudi Pearl’s Casio needed the point to win the title, but Casio missed to spare the remaining pins and that gave the Cee Bee Aviation the title with Susan Patayan rolling 211 in the nail biting match. Eddie Alisbo increased his output by knocking down 186 while Nap, Villanueva and Silabay hit 166, 160 and 141. The Cee Bee Aviation tallied 864 total team series while the Saudi Pearl Insurance posted 767 total team series. Casio scored 180, Domado had 177 while Danny, Myrna and Lyn sealed 153, 136 and 121.
The first game in the stepladder match between the Berks and the Rejonal Aces resulted at 971-920, in favor of the Berks. Jess Escondo, Jess Pineda and Lavern Laderas led the Berks by rolling 207, 194 and 191. Rene Santiago topscored for the Rejonal Aces with 188, followed by Joey Salvador (179) and Nanding Siasoco (175).
The Berks were defeated by the Saudi Pearl Insurance (986-1,036). Myrna and Casio were to the for with a game-high 235 and 210 respectively. Berk’s Jess Escondo, Pineda and Jay Perez got 200, 190 and 182.
The Saudi Pearl Insurance then beat Lux Progress (970-928) with Danny hitting 212. Andy Erene topscored for the Lux Progress with 206 followed by Dhads Gueco (171), Fatima Jintarat (168), Jun Lasaga (157) and Puri Parena (140).
Final standings: Champion — Cee Bee Aviation, 2nd place — Saudi Pearl Insurance, 3rd place — Lux Progress, 4th place — Berks, 5th place — Rejonal Aces, 6th place — Jeddah Lanes, 7th place — NPS, 8th place - Sadafco-Saudia Majestic, 9th place — SkyFreight Forwarders, 10th place — Asereje.
Results of the FTBJ Monthly Tournament for the Month of July 2003 held at the Jeddah Lanes Bowling Center. Champion, Class O - Leo Pangilinan, Champion, Class A and bowler of the month, Randy “gigolo” Mata, Champion, Class B - Edwin Ronquillo (Ginoong Haj 2003), and Champion, Class C - Ed Karganilla.
