It seems that the many efforts by various countries, groups, Arab and Islamic scientific and intellectual committees to correct the Western image of Islam by visits, conventions, meetings and seminars has had no effect whatsoever.
The efforts, it seems, have failed to serve Islam and Muslims in the way they were meant to. Doors were certainly opened for discussion and argument but often those being asked were unable to answer honestly and correctly because of political considerations.
The reason the efforts have had so little effect and have done little to correct the image of Islam is because of human nature’s way of looking at actions instead of words. The problem is that Westerners looking at Islam concentrate on what Muslims do rather than what they say or what they allege to be Islamic behavior.
Judgment is passed on the basis of what is and not what ought to be. If our Muslim leaders believe in human rights and the rights of countries, then why do they violate these rights every day and so blacken the image of Islam? All too often they claim to be acting in the name of Islam even when what they do is contrary to Islam.
