JEDDAH, 12 August 2003 — Baharullah Hazarwi, an officer of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Zakat & Usher, government of Pakistan, assumed charge as director of the Pakistan Haj Directorate here yesterday. Prior to his new assignment Hazarwi had served in the Pakistan Haj Mission at Makkah in various capacities. From 1970 to 1987 he worked as a translator, in 1989-90 he worked as coordinator and from 1995-1996 he was vice consul in the Haj Directorate.
Hazarwi carries extensive experience in Haj affairs and will be a rich addition to the Pakistan Haj Mission. Hazarwi speaks most native languages of Pakistan and is very prolific in the Arabic language. Hazarwi is also a seasoned writer and was the first to write a biography of the founder of Saudi Arabia, King Abdul Aziz, in the Urdu language. Hazarwi was the official translator of several prime ministers.
