LONDON, 13 August 2003 — World champions Germany could face sanctions after sending their development squad to this month’s Champions Trophy, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) said yesterday.
The German Hockey Association (DHB) decided not to field its strongest team at the Amsterdam tournament, which starts on August 16, because of its close proximity to September’s European Nations Cup.
“At this stage we have done everything that is reasonable to persuade DHB to reconsider,” FIH honorary secretary general Peter Cohen said in a statement.
