GOUVEIA, Portugal, 13 August 2003 — Vitor Gamito of Portugal won the sixth stage of the Tour of Portugal cycle race on Monday.
His compatriot Rui Lavarinhas finished second in the stage to take over the race leader’s yellow jersey. Gamito covered the 136.5 km ride from Fundao to Gouveia in a provisional time of three hours 33 minutes 30 seconds, also taking a 10-second bonus.
Spain’s Ezequiel Mosquera was third.
