BURAIDAH, 15 August 2003 — Host team Buraidah Selection proved too good for the Hail Development Company (HADCO) team winning 95-86 in the Power Horse Basketball Exhibition Game held at the Al-Salman Agriculture Basketball Court, Buraidah.
HADCO’s point guard Henry Lingad demonstrated his spectacular ball handling prowess and precision passing. With support from Aguirre and Reyes, HADCO took the lead but Erwin Doroteo was sidelined due to foul trouble. Host team’s forwards Soliman, Dimla and Benson then pounded HADCO with overwhelming penetration and shooting skills.
Team centers Pepito and Mina gained supremacy in rebounds while flashy guards Camarao and Bardago provided backcourt efficiency for the Buraidah Selection Team.
First half closed at 46-35 with the host team in the driver’s seat. HADCO staged an astounding rally led by Lingad, Aguirre and Reyes to even up the score during the early ticks of the second half but fell short after Reyes and Doroteo committed their final fouls. The Buraidah squad then increased their lead dominating most of the remaining stages of the final half in all aspects of the game. Streak shooter Benson led the final outbreak alongside Soliman and Dimla.
The two finished with 19 points apiece and Benson with 18. Buraydah’s Vinalon, Manalansan, Paule, and Roman contributed to secure their victory.
Head Coach Jun Esguerra and Assistant Coach J. Tabuco received the winner’s trophy while HADCO were applauded for their exceptional performance.
