JEDDAH, 17 August 2003 — The International Shotokan Martial Arts Representation & Training (ISMART Karate Club) is a new entity with the aim of promoting martial arts and foster technical distinction in all disciplines.
The ISMART Karate Club’s founder and chief instructor is Sensei Gerry de Jesus Renta Jr., 2nd dan blackbelt, and is assisted by Sensei Mardy Dimalotang, 2nd dan blackbelt club instructor, both members of Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi’s Shotokan Karate Association (FSKA). They will represent and compete in the Oct. 18 FSKA 16th Annual Karate Championship to be held in Cupertino, California, and in the 5th World Karate Championship in Las Vegas on Nov. 22-23. Together with the group are Master Ernesto “Nestor” Suliva, 9th dan blackbelt the founder of PAMAC & PHILMASA International, Renshi Rolando “Abdulrahman” Salmo, 5th dan blackbelt the founder & chief instructor of Aiki-Kempo & Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Dojo, Sensei Pol Poleras, club instructor of Shosikai Karate-Do.
