JEDDAH, 22 August 2003 — The Insektos and the Zuhair Fayez bowling teams stole the limelight in the 5th week of the Monday Night Bowling League being played at the Jeddah Lanes Bowling Center.

The league is chaired by Igna Salgado. The impressive games by Nonie Yap gave Insektos the needed scores to collect 53 big points. Yap scored a four game series scratch of 689 and had on lines of 239, 215 and 235, an average of 213.

Team support to Yap came through the combined games of Benjie Cils, Mao Orolfo, Zaldy Parinas and Arnold Alday. Cils and Orolfo toppled 558 and 557 series in three matches while Parinas and Alday contributed a series of 561 and 476.

The Insektos submitted an overall total team series handicap of 2,843 pinfalls. Zuhair Fayez team produced 46 points. Johnny Diores led by carding a series of 632 and rolled 192, 215 and 201. Superstar Cris Villavelez, now with Zuhair Fayez followed with a series of 597, with a game high of 245.

Lito Zamudio, Salic Mudag and Boying Serquina scored a separate series of 551, 507 and 495. An overall total team series handicap of 2,782 was registered by the Zuhair Fayez team.

The league leaders, Mobi Fabric Softener tightened their hold as the undisputed holder of the top spot. A total of 42 points were poured by the Mobi Fabric Softener quintet with Joe Flores with a series of 590. Ador Torres and Rally Zamora had an identical three game series of 556. Jun Pilipina scored 544 and Abet Sarte downed 535. Mobi Fabric Softener shot an overall total team series handicap of 2,781 points.

Meanwhile, the Tetra Pak team with the heroics of Bonnie Garcia and Goying Salazar smashed 41.5 points. Garcia and Salazar submitted a series of 596 and 571. Bert Tuvera and Rudy Valenzuela shared 556 and 547 series, respectively while Rodell Ricafort had a series of 483.

The Falcon team keglers registered 40.5 points through Dhads Gueco and Rudy Punzalan who toppled an identical three game series of 573. Alex Flora, Roger Daquioag and Ed Labuac garnered 539, 531 and 518.

The SkyFreight Forwarders team keglers posted 35 points through the collective efforts of Hashim Guinomla (586), Danny de Guzman (575), Edu Toledo (563), Rene Santiago (562) and Hero Garcia (468).

Edwin Ronquillos’s FAL team recorded 34 points and leading was Joey Salvador with 596. James Galvan and Nap Patayan scored a series of 542 and 533 while Jess Pineda and Edwin Ronquillo sandbagged 530 and 514 series in three matches.

A total of 31 points were recorded by Cee Bee Aviation Company and topscoring was Emil Payongayong with 592 pinfalls. Lindo Villanueva carded a series of 545. Boy Casio, Eddie “turbo” Alisbo and Talal Tuwaireb chipped in a series of 518 and 493.

Jeddah Lanes and the Saudi Diyar got 26 and 24 points, respectively. Ahmad Sindi, Aseem Hasanin and Asker posted a series of 555, 546 and 545. Sharef Ibrahim and Abdullah Hasanin had 505 and 481 series.

For Saudi Diyar, pumping-in the best series was Larry Santos with 569, followed by Nestor Caasalme (554), Raul delos Reyes (550), Jerry Valle (502) and Ted Benito (450). Leo Pangilinan, Mar Cabrera and Eddie Tuico led Kapepin by knocking-out a separate three game series of 548, 534 and 523. Lavern Laderas and Vic Santos scored 470 and 459. The Kapepin scored 17 points.

The Crocodiles shot 16 points with Ghassan Abuzinada (561), Turki Taylone (514), Mohamed Trifi (509) and Sultan Khayat (507). A total of 10 and 4 points were pinned down by the Thunderball and the Hackers bowling teams. Sultan Harbi, Sulaiman Ibrahim and Faha Juraifani scored 509, 473 and 472.
