JEDDAH, 27 August 2003 — The results of the IGCST/GCE “O” Level examinations (2002-2003) conducted by the University of Cambridge have been announced.
A total of 250 students from the Pakistan International School (English Section) took part in the examinations this year as compared to 198 in 2001-2002.
Some 90 percent of the students obtained between Grades A* and C in 2002-2003 compared to 81 percent in 2001-2002.
Over 72 percent of the students got Grades A* and B in 2002-2003 compared to 56 percent in 2001-2002.
Forty percent of the students got A* and A grades in 2002-2003. In 2001-2002 the percentage was 32. The percentage of students with grades C and above in five or more subjects was 87.5 compared to 73 percent last year.
The school received two ICE Awards from the University of Cambridge for outstanding performance.
Aisha Ilyas and Marium Rauf secured the top positions with 5A* and 4As each.
Other students with impressive performances were Atyub Ahmad, 2 A*s and 6 As; Zohaib M. Rafi, 3A* and 3As; Sameen Arshad, 1A* and 8As; Ibrahim Ijaz, 1A* and 5As; Farah A. Hayee 1A* and 5As; Marria Fazal 1A* and 4 As; Faraz Zafar 1 A* and 4As; Marium Hamid 6 As; Afreen Versiani 5As and Jaweria Khan 5As.
Students at the Asia International School in Alkhobar have also excelled in the GCE level examination conducted by Cambridge University. The results which were announced last week showed that the school achieved 100 percent results, with many students scoring more than 90 percent. Top performers included Mariam Kamil with three A*s and two As, and Sobia Bukhtair with 2 A*s.
