JEDDAH, 12 September 2003 — The Bangladesh International School (English Section) in Jeddah held a celebration for students who earned an average 90 percent score on their IGCSE exams.
Attending the celebration were Mansour Ghazali, director of foreign education at the Ministry of Education, Bangladeshi Consul General Muhammad Zafor as well as proud parents and staff.
School Principal Claudia Baker told Arab News: “We have 20 students. Collectively they have achieved 50 A-star grades and a 90 percent pass rate in the A, B and C grade range. Our top student is Abdullah Abdur Rouf Bhuiyan, 16, with three A-stars and five A’s, including an A grade in English as a first language.”
Other students deserving recognition according to BISJ’s chairman of the governing board, Abdur Rouf Bhuiyan, are Waqas Hasan Khan, 15, who achieved five A-stars, one A, and a B, as well as Shadee Sircar who earned four A-stars, two A’s and one B.
Ghazali told the students: “I am very pleased to hear about these results. You guys are on the right track. This school is very well staffed and the parents have done great work. We are all very proud.”
The Bangladeshi consul general said: “Congratulations to the students, staff, school and the Ministry of Education. We are all looking to you to achieve the same success in the A-levels.”
The chairman of the governing board said: “We are all very proud of our students. We are on a winning streak and we must keep it up. In due course, I have every confidence that we will be the best in Jeddah. We must thank all the students as well as the staff, and the parents who paid so much attention to their children.”
