JEDDAH, 26 September 2003 — Gentec Telecom and ALJ Rehab Hospital are sweeping their rivals aside left and right.
Gentec showed no mercy in thrashing Ambassador 83-56, while ALJ Rehab Hospital sailed past Saptco 83-74.
Gentec and ALJ Rehab now tote a similar 3-0 record in their respective divisions. From the toss, Gentec played fluid, running basketball.
Moving for the kill in the third period, Gentec continued to outplay Ambassador and increased its lead to 64-44.
The fourth quarter was just mopping up for Gentec quintet. After the smoke had cleared, Mayo tallied 21 points for Gentec.
He had ample support from Unas and Peredo who had 20 and 11 points respectively. The ALJ Rehab Hospital versus Saptco game was a battle of unbeaten teams.
It was also a scoring battle between Fernando (Saptco) and Gadingan (ALJ Rehab). With Fernando hitting his shots early, Saptco held onto a 24-20 first quarter lead. But Gadingan, Leal and Mamaradlo, combined for 19 points, as ALJ Rehab outscored Saptco 28-15, in the second canto to grab the lead at 48-39.
Saptco continued to threaten ALJ Rehab in the fourth quarter.
But Gadingan, Leal and Mamaradlo joined hands again to give ALJ Rehab the cushion. The trio scored 11 of ALJ Rehab’s last 18 points, beating Saptco’s 16 points, for a victory and the top spot in the Inter-Division Invitational category.
Fernando, however, won the scoring duel with Gadingan. He had 35 points to Gadingan’s 30.
Other topscorers were Leal and Mamaradlo with 23 and 10 points for ALJ Rehab. Saptco had Frondozo and Mamalompong hitting 17 and 11 points respectively.
In other games, Sijahi finally barged into the win column, despite missing injured Yasser, by beating winless MTTS Unipipe 61-56. Marhaba Superstores slowly taken the lead in the Inter-Company Division, with a 2-0 slate, following a masterful 91-82 victory over Sharbatly Corporation.
