JEDDAH, 26 September 2003 — Action in the first JSMG Basketball Tournament in Cooperation with Almajal Servicemaster sponsored by Tharwat Al-Gharbia Al-Haditha continued last week.
Julius Consignado scored 14 points, Ronel Bueno got 12 points and Tony Manguera had 11 for Al-Mashwali who crushed the Alzaman team 85-45.
The Al-Mashwali is 2-0, second behind the hot streaking Almajal Servicemaster.
Cerena scored 18 points for the Alzaman team. Noynoy Soliveres and Michael Caling topscored with 18 and 16 points respectively for the Almajal Servicemaster to edge the Arab News team 85-78.
It was Almajal’s third win without a loss and they lead the inter-company division.
Soliveres made a go-ahead 3-point basket and Caling made a 3-point play to put the Almajal team comfortably 4 points ahead.
Arab News late quarter run suffered a blow when Arquerro left injured leaving Avengonzado manning the shaded lane.
Alex Carpio and Captain Sandy Parohinog got 13 points apiece.
Leading for Arab News was Talastas 19, Avengonzado 16 and San Pedro 15.
In the main game, the tandem of Banaag 11 and Martin 10 helped Danube-NCR to beat Daawat 74-62 and improve its record to 2-1 in three games to put them in third place in the Inter-Company. Valancia of Daawat led his team with 13.
Mon Bautista had 15 as the FedEx Express downed the Expert 85-68.
FedEx proved too much for Expert in an one-sided encounter. Also scoring for Fedex was Collado 13, Ibno 11 and Joaquin 10.
In the Inter-Supermart Division, The scoring duo of Rowell Garcia and Alex Rodriguez had 24 and 23 points respectively to beat the Giant Store-Alasmak 74-67.
The Snickers ended Giant-Alasmak winning streak. The Giant was still leading at half-time by 3, 29-26. But with the injury to Giant’s Antony Asperga and outputs of 15 by Mario Morales and 11 by Nelson Rafael was not enough.
WRJ beat Saudia City 62-53.
