JEDDAH, 3 October 2003 — As the elimination round of the 11th ALJ Invitational Basketball Tournament enters its second phase, ALJ Rehab Hospital, Fujitec, Baituna, Gentec, and Dr. Baksh remained unbeaten in their respective categories.
Among the winners so far, ALJ Rehab Hospital leads the pack with an immaculate 4-0 win-loss record.
Fujitec, Baituna, and Gentec have a similar 3-0 win-loss card, while Dr. Baksh stands at 2-0. Latest victim of ALJ Rehab Hospital was MTTS Unipipe, trounced at 84-63.
In other games, Fujitec whipped Zuhair Fayez 84-74, while Baituna shellacked Ambassador 92-71. Saptco is playing catch-up with ALJ Rehab by defeating PCC-Accessories 74-64, to improve to a 3-1 record. ALJ Rehab is lording it over the Inter-Division Invitational category.
In its game against MTTS Unipipe, it raced to a 20-13 first quarter lead.
The fourth quarter was just mopping up operation for ALJ Rehab as MTTS could only watch in dismay. Gadingan and Leal finished with 27 and 20 points respectively, while Mamaradlo shot 10 points for ALJ Rehab.
The loss of MTTS negated a 31-point scoring binge of Santos.
Fujitec (Inter-Company category) broke just enough sweat to thwart Zuhair Fayez.
After establishing control by taking the first quarter 22-8, Fujitec padded the lead to 44-26. Fujitec just coasted along in the fourth quarter, allowing Zuhair Fayez some easy baskets, as the outcome of the game was already decided.
Again, Jong Rafada presided over Fujitec’s scoring attack by hitting 28 points.
Alvaro and Demetrio of Fujitec were also in double figures, netting 23 and 16 points respectively.
