DAMMAM, 8 October 2003 — The Department for Girls’ Education in the Eastern Province is investigating the principal of a girls’ school for turning a secondary school into a private computer training institute.
According to a report in Al-Watan newspaper, the institute enrolled learners who were not students at the secondary school itself, taking illegal advantage of facilities provided by the state and charging SR600 per student.
The director for development at the Department for Girls’ Education, Naser Al-Jaber, said the school had a computer training program exclusively for its students priced at SR500, but neither the money charged to external students nor the missing SR100 from each internal students could be accounted for.
