RIYADH, 9 October 2003 — Security forces clashed yesterday with militants who were planning terrorist attacks, an Interior Ministry spokesman said. Two policemen were injured in the shootout at a farm in the central Qasim region, he said. One militant was arrested and three others managed to escape after seizing a bystander’s car at gunpoint. The militants belonged to “terror cells in the early stages of planning attacks,” the spokesman said.
