MADINAH, 10 October 2003 — The Narcotics Department here has uncovered a drug factory in a sting operation.
According to a report in Al-Madinah newspaper, officers from the department followed two suspected Saudi drug dealers to their apartment, where they discovered equipment capable of producing hundreds of amphetamine pills a day.
The market price ranged from SR15 to SR30 per pill, the paper said.
The Narcotics Department estimates that the producers were earning SR45,000 to SR90,000 a month or up to SR1 million annually.
Sources told the paper that the department had also seized more than 800 kg of hashish and 300,000 amphetamine pills from smugglers from other Arab countries.
