JEDDAH, 11 October 2003 — Saudi Arabia thrashed Indonesia 5-0 to remain the only undefeated team in the Asian Group qualifier here yesterday. They top the group with nine points from three matches are the likely candidates to qualify for the Asian Cup.
A hat trick by Talal Meshal, with goals in 34th, 55th and 56th minutes, and a brace from Yosri Al-Basha, with strikes in 47th and 76th, completed the scoring. Indonesia missed a 49th minute penalty on a woeful day.
In the second match of the day, Yemen handed winless Bhutan a 8-0 drubbing. Yasir Basal, who scored in the 20th, 25th and 82nd minutes, notched a treble, while Fikri Yahya (37th), Saleh Ahmad Gassim (60th), Adil Abdullah Al-Salem (67th and 88th) and Nashman Ali (74th) were the other scorers.
