DOHA, 14 October 2003 — The GCC Defense Ministers Council, which met here yesterday, did not discuss the issue of sending troops to Iraq, said Prince Abdul Rahman, deputy minister of defense and aviation, who led the Kingdom’s delegation to the meeting. “This issue will never be discussed at the Defense Ministers Council,” he told Saudi Television. The meeting, however, discussed means of activating the Joint Defense Agreement, establishing a College for Defense Studies, and strengthening the Peninsula Shield Force.
