JEDDAH, 17 October 2003 — ALJ Rehab Hospital and Fujitec are remained unbeaten in the 11the ALJ Invitational Basketball Tournament. With Gadingan’s 39 points, ALJ Rehab defeated SJAHI 85-76. Fujitec escaped a narrow 79-73 victory over a fighting Al-Jedaani Hospital. Using a 42-37 cushion courtesy of Gadingan’s 14 points, ALJ Rehab Hospital ripped the game open in the third canto. Aside from Gadingan, ALJ Rehab got contributions from Leal and Mamaradlo, who scored 22 and 14 points respectively, for ALJ Rehab’s fifth straight win.

Yasser paced the losers with 28 points, while Faiz had 21 points. The game between top ranked Fujitec and Al-Jedaani had the spectators bracing for an upset.

Using a spirited offense, coupled by stingy defense, AL-Jedaani surprised Fujitec with a 58-54 lead after three quarters.

But when it mattered most it was Fujitec that came up on top. With Jong Rafada, hitting 10 points in the fourth quarter, Fujitec sealed their fourth win. Rafada had the night high 35 points. Alvaro and Demetrio had good games as well, scoring 22 and 11 points, respectively. Gonzalvo of Al-Jedaani Hospital paced his teammates with 21 points. Geniblazo shot 14, Orodio had 13, Mercado 12, and Mallo netted 10. The other teams having perfect records in the tournament were idle Dr. Baksh and Gentec with 4-0 and 3-0 win-loss cards, respectively.
